Official Places to Start

For current local custody, use the Office of Genesee County Sheriff, Corrections Division. The sheriff identifies the Genesee County Jail and Flint City Lockup as Corrections Division facilities, and inmate information for either facility is routed through the jail information line.

For public-record requests, Genesee County routes FOIA submissions through its FOIA office and NextRequest portal.

Use these routing points depending on what you are trying to confirm.

• For someone believed to be in the Genesee County Jail or Flint City Lockup, start with jail inmate records and call 810-257-3426.
• For booking photos or a mugshot request, review jail roster mugshots and consider a Genesee County FOIA request when the record is not online.
• For charges, arraignment, preliminary examination, or case movement after arrest, use court records after a jail arrest. The 67th District Court handles early misdemeanor and felony preliminary matters, while 7th Circuit Legal Records and the County Clerk handle felony circuit records after the case reaches circuit court.

• For a sentenced state prisoner, parolee, probationer, or MDOC supervision record, use Michigan Department of Corrections OTIS rather than the county jail.
